Chels has been busy with hooking us up with a bunch of awesome stuff. We haven't been able to get together much for musical stuff, but we did play some stuff for my mom (who is a more legit source than you'd think...) and she liked it :) definitely a good sign. There isn't too much other news to share at this point, but we're definitely working on stuff. I know we really want to get another (corrected/edited) version of You, Me, & Sky out there so that it is much better. We've fixed it a lot and practiced it much more so it should get recorded sometime in the near future. Well, please check out these links and let us know if you have any suggestions or anything. We would always love to hear them!! Until then, Some Chick out.

photoshoot

Some Chick had a photoshoot!! haha. still funny. Our dear friend, Kara Walz, who is a wonderful photographer and a great sport took us around our campus today and took a few pictures. The one here is our favorite from it and possibly our future album cover. We also created a purevolume site which will be linked here soon.
In other news, we could be playing at a local Hot Topic store for an all acoustic set sometime in the near future... we need to get an album length compilation of songs with a title and everything somewhere online so this girl Jenna can hear it. We also need to get enough people to come out to the show so that it will be worth it for them. So you know what this means... keep your eyes open for news and then get recruiting!!! Also, we will definitely be playing at coffeehouse in the fall. So keep your pants on. We'll play soon enough.
Today Chels and I worked on another song called Who Needs This? It's actually really upbeat. Chels had to retreat into her head for like 15 minutes in order to come up with the strumming pattern only to figure out she's actually hearing two guitars for this song. haha. She did come up with it eventually and I got half my stuff packed for the summer. Just kidding... only about a quarter of it. Haha. But it's going to be really good. I'm pretty excited. So the grand total now comes to 3 songs that we have so far. Considering we've been officially a band for two weeks and two days, it's pretty impressive. At least I think so. So I have my two hardest finals tomorrow and I pretty much haven't studied at all today. Chels, Kara, and I are working on getting started slash watching Juno... peace!

some due explanations

So I feel like I owe a few explanations. Chels said I really should explain how we got the name of Some Chick. It's different for both of us even though we agree with the other. For her, she says that it's meaningful because we are just some girls who God has blessed with music and each other. We could basically be anyone. She knows how to write songs, and I know how to write them down and interpret what's in her mind. We really are just some chicks. For me, it was more the hilarity of it. I was walking on campus one day and someone asked who sang a song and someone said, I don't know, some chick? And it hit me that that would be an awesome band name. Examples:
"I saw some chick last week."
"I got some chick's autograph."
"I get to go backstage with some chick!!"
There are countless others, but those are the first that came to my extremely exhausted mind. I mean, this is being quite precocious, but it's still funny. I think someone should have thought of this a long time ago and perhaps someone did. Eh. If we actually make something of ourselves, it'll be God, not us in any way. Also, the name of our potential album, "From Back Home", was originally thought of just to be funny. It was my idea and I was just messing around, but Chels liked it because a lot of the songs follow that sort of theme so, again, she thinks seriously about it, and I'm just being goofy. That's why she's the lyricist... lol.
The other thing I want to explain is the first post on this blog. It's much more personal for me because this blog was originally just supposed to be mine for a little outlet of personal thoughts and randomness, but then I realized I should just use it for some chick instead. (haha. that's a good one too.) However, that post will stay there even though it's quite a bit more personal, but that's fine. No harm done.
So we haven't gotten to work on a lot of stuff the last few days because we're both crazy busy with the end of the semester. For example, I spent 2 hours at Starbucks today followed by 4 and a half hours at Panera working on a huge assignment for my Biblical Interpretations class that I finally finished. However, I have to grade like 7 assignments for Calc 3 and haven't started that. (yes, I know I'm a dork, but I love math and that is my major...) I think I'm going to go to sleep for a few hours and then get up and do that when I have a semi-rested brain. I don't think I could stretch my brain anymore tonight. So on that note, I bid thee a farewell.

reveal to heal

Chelsea and I spent about 5 hours again last night working out her song Reveal to Heal. The strumming is definitely more difficult than You, Me, & Sky, but that's totally fine. It's gonna sound really great. It kinda stinks that we figured out we can do this the weekend before the last week of classes which is followed by finals week... I mean, it's good in one sense because it's a good release and we have summer coming up, but for these two weeks, it's going to be really hard to focus on school. I'm super excited for next year though because we're gonna put a music corner in our room that's just meant for writing stuff. Plus, this summer we're going to have the use of my awesome piano at my house!! Totally excited for that :) and my mom is awesome at this stuff so she'll be a big help too. I hope I have time with the three jobs I'm planning on having and the class I'm taking and my volleyball workouts every day... I'll definitely find time though because this is so much fun and super important to me.

We got You, Me, & Sky recorded on our friend's computer and converted it to an iTunes file so Some Chick is on my iPod. (hahahaha. kills me every time.) It's not perfect, but then again, we're playing in my dorm room on a Windows Media file so it's not exactly professional or anything. That's ok. I know a few people that may be able to hook us up with something at least semi-legit. Chels is working on our album cover for the album that may never actually come about, but we enjoy being optimistic. It's called From Back Home. (get it?? some chick from back home hahaha.) but anyways, it's actually pretty legit cuz the songs that are on it kinda follow that theme anyways. I'm pretty excited. We're basically set on playing at Johnson Hall Coffeehouse next semester which is going to be awesome cuz we're gonna get a bunch of songs done this summer. :) Well, that's about all I have to say right now. Chels and I are gonna go to lunch and then we have class which will be loads of fun... not really, but it is cuz we're in there together and we basically just goof off the whole time lol. well, peace!!
